Spindle Oil is typically based on highly refined mineral oil or synthetic formulations (such as polyalphaolefin/PAO) for superior performance. Its key technical characteristics include: very low Viscosity (e.g., ISO VG 2, 5, 7, 10, or 22), high Oxidation and Thermal Stability to prevent lacquer or deposit formation, a good Viscosity Index to maintain consistent lubrication across temperature variations, and a low Pour Point to ensure easy flow in cold environments. Some grades may contain anti-rust, mild anti-wear, or anti-foam additives.
Its primary applications are on CNC and conventional machine tool spindles, high-speed precision bearings, and closed-loop oil circulation systems. For maintenance, always use the viscosity grade recommended by the manufacturer. Perform regular oil changes based on operating hours or condition monitoring to prevent oil degradation and contamination. Store oil in sealed containers to avoid dust and moisture contamination. Ensure the circulation system is clean before filling with new oil. Monitor spindle operating temperature and noise as early indicators of maintenance needs.
